Trauma Release
WHY ADD TRAUMA/EMOTIONAL RELEASE WITH YOUR MFR SESSION?
Frances and Tana include emotional/trauma release with your MFR sessions, as it significantly enhances both the physical and emotional releases that come with Myofascial Release. Traumatic experiences throughout your life can settle into the body and impact the nervous system developing:
- Chronically tight muscles
- Bracing, rigidity and posture patterns
- Feeling disconnected from the body (living only in the head)
- Inability to relax, breathe deeply or feel peaceful
Body-focused (somatic) work addresses the imprints trauma can leave by using the body as a living map of our held experiences. This approach focuses first on calming and regulating the nervous system to create a sense of safety and control. For many, this is an important precursor to working with the fascial system, as a nervous system in a chronic state of fight or flight or hyper-vigilance will not allow muscles to release until it feels safe. Somatic bodywork uses gentle touch, inquiry, breath, movement and/or sound to create space in the system to digest these experiences and return to a regulated state.
Both Frances and Tana offer various combinations of these modalities, but there is usually a 2 month wait for their sessions. Potential clients are encouraged to work with other therapists in the office to address physical issues in the interim. Please note that trauma release requires at least 8-10 sessions over several months and is an additional $20 per hour session.

TRAUMA RELEASE WITH FRANCES
Frances combines Guided Imagery, NLP, Hypnotherapy and Craniosacral Therapy in her sessions.
Guided imagery is a method for managing your stress. It’s a relaxation technique that involves visualizing positive, peaceful settings like a beautiful beach or a peaceful meadow. This technique is also known as visualization or guided meditation.
NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programing) tries to detect and modify unconscious biases or limitations of an individual’s map of the world. NLP is not hypnotherapy. Instead, it operates through the conscious use of language to bring about changes in someone’s thoughts and behavior.
Hypnotherapy is a type of alternative medicine in which hypnosis is used to create a state of focused attention and increased suggestibility during which positive suggestions and guided imagery are used to help individuals deal with a variety of concerns and issues.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. This is imperative for people who struggle with anxiety.
TRAUMA RELEASE WITH TANA
Nervous System Regulation, Trauma & Grief Work: Tana’s work focuses on nervous system regulation / re-patterning and processing emotions held in the body.
Understanding The Process: Clients are guided through a specific process that includes establishing a foundation of safety and connection to the body, identifying nervous system patterns, processing of energy held in the tissues and learning how to regulate emotions and nervous system responses.
This work is a collaborative experience between the client and the therapist that requires active participation from the client. Each session is also a classroom where clients will be given education, tools and techniques to practice at home.
After the initial session/evaluation to determine suitability, clients will be asked to commit to a series of sessions (usually weekly or bi-weekly for 2 to 3 months minimum). Nervous system repatterning is a process that takes time, dedication and sustained effort to create lasting results.
About the Work: Tana draws from her wide breath of training including Somatic Experiencing, Grief, Breathwork, Movement, Reiki, and Sound healing to provide sessions customized to client’s needs. Her sessions may include some of the following techniques: breath work, vocalization, dialogue, inquiry, and movement. Potential clients should be willing to step out of their comfort zone, and be open to exploring new techniques.
